About This Tea

Supplier: Bluebird Tea Co.
Ingredients: Ceylon Black Tea, Carrot Pieces, Halloween Sprinkles, Cinnamon, Ginger, Cloves, Vanilla Pieces, Flavour.
Brewing Technique: 100°C, 4 Minutes

Aroma

The packet smells spicy, similar to many chai blends, but when steeped this tea is buttery, and creamy, and sweet smelling. And. Oh. So. Very. Tempting.

Flavour

The initial flavour is the pleasant taste of all ingredients at once, followed by a sudden bitterness that quickly gives way to the spices, buttery pumpkin notes and finally, a sweet vanilla, that lasts into the finish and keeps you coming back for more. A dash of milk removes much of the bitterness of the Ceylon tea, creating a cup where every mouthful is to be savoured, radiating buttery, creamy vanilla hints and spiced notes. Think chai with an autumnal pumpkin twist.

You can also easily make this into a latte with Bluebirds recipe. Please trust me, if you have this tea you NEED to try this deliciousness!

Ingredients: 2 tsps Spiced Pumpkin Pie, 300ml hot water 100ml almond or full fat milk, Milk Frother, Ground nutmeg, Honey

  1. Brew your Spiced Pumpkin Pie tea in the hot water for no more than 4 minutes.
  2. Add 2 tsp of honey to 100ml of milk and froth.
  3. Add milk to the tea, stirring as you go, ensuring you get a nice big dollop of frothy milk on the top.
  4. Sprinkle with nutmeg or your choice of topping.

Final Thoughts

You know that feeling, when the days are getting shorter, darker, colder, and most probably wetter, when Halloween and bonfire night are just around the corner, and you snuggle further into a thick knit scarf to avoid a chill wind, dreaming of home? Of stepping through the front door, feeling a blast of warmth, followed by the sight of a fresh cup of tea, steamy windows and the aroma of a cooking dinner. Now image the tea is chai and for dinner is roasted squash… that’s the essence Spiced Pumpkin Pie. Tea lovers hailed and rejoiced at the return of this blend that was a 2016 Great Taste Award winner. I can relate if the hype had you thinking surely “this is just another chai blend?” or “this is just a hype on pumpkin lattes from [insert generic café chain of your choice].”
But, in true Bluebird fashion, they have near flawlessly captured the essence of homey autumn evenings in this teas sweet aroma, delicious flavour and autumnal colours. It didn’t take more than a few sips to completely understand why this tea is a winner. For me, a dash of milk made this tea into perfection. GOD. ITS. SO. DAMN. GOOD. Words just can’t do Spiced Pumpkin Pie justice.
